The Nebraska Crime Commission administers the Community-Based Juvenile Services Aid program under Nebraska Revised Statute §43-2404.02. It funds programs and services identified in recipients’ comprehensive juvenile services community plans. Priorities are diverting juveniles from the justice system, reducing juvenile detention and secure confinement, and helping youth transition from out-of-home placements. Local data and community collaboration guide planning priorities and strategies.
Supported work includes local planning and service coordination, screening and assessment, diversion, detention alternatives, family support, treatment, and truancy prevention and intervention. Funding also supports Commission-approved pilots, transportation, evidence-based personnel and contracted services, and qualifying preexisting programs. Services generally target youth ages eleven through eighteen, with a broader age range for excessive-absenteeism programs.
