    Description

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) offers this discretionary Chairman’s Grant to strengthen classical humanities teaching in American high schools. It supports projects that enhance existing programs, resources, or courses in Classics, Great Books, and/or Western civilization. Projects may take varied approaches but must draw on humanities disciplines, such as philosophy, history, languages and literature, political science, archaeology, and Classics, and directly serve high school instruction.

Expected outcomes include an increased capacity to teach these subjects at the recipient school. Projects may produce revised or new courses, programs, curricula, books, curated student resources, teacher curriculum guides, or faculty development programs. Faculty development may involve partnerships with local cultural institutions, neighboring school districts, or institutions of higher education.
