Description
The NEI Vision Precision Challenge is a two-phase competition designed to accelerate innovation in visual acuity measurement, moving beyond traditional, controlled settings and specialized personnel. The challenge seeks next-generation tools—software, hardware, AI-enabled, adaptive, automated, mobile, or hybrid—that are accurate, reproducible, and scalable for use across clinical, community, and remote environments. The aim is to modernize vision assessment, facilitate integration with digital health systems, and support precision medicine and improved access to eye care. The competition is administered by the National Eye Institute (NEI) under the NIH Challenges initiative.
