Description
Neighbor-to-Neighbor is an emergency assistance program of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation for individuals and families experiencing economic distress. It serves Berkshire, Columbia, Northeast Dutchess, and Northwest Litchfield counties, helping with overdue utilities, medical bills, short-term housing costs, and transportation problems.
The program focuses on strategic, short-term intervention to help community members achieve stability and avert further crises, rather than providing long-term or ongoing assistance. The foundation partners with local social service agencies to distribute funds and connect recipients with other social services. Support addresses immediate expenses owed to landlords, utility companies, pharmacies, and mechanics. Contributions from neighbors sustain the program each year.
