Summary: Supports hypothesis-driven radiology research that produces actionable evidence for health policy, patient care, and efficient healthcare resource use.

Key Information: The primary investigator must be a current American College of Radiology member.

    Description

The Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute (HPI), affiliated with the American College of Radiology, supports novel, empirical research addressing current radiology policy priorities. Projects should produce actionable findings that improve patient outcomes, reduce health disparities, inform appropriate care, or demonstrate radiology’s value to support adequate reimbursement and sustain patient access.

The program offers two forms of support: the Harvey L. Neiman Grant funds independent research extending HPI’s capabilities, while the Richard Duszak Grant supports collaboration using HPI analysis, resources, and mentorship. Research priorities include emerging technologies, delivery and payment models, workforce sustainability, cancer screening, and radiologists’ value to health systems and patients. The Duszak Grant also addresses emergency department imaging growth and actionable factors contributing to inappropriate use.
