NERC-Innovate UK ICURe Discover is a nine-week, part-time online market exploration programme delivered by SETsquared Partnership. Run through Innovate UK and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), it supports early-stage projects exploring commercial applications that address climate adaptation challenges. The aim is to bring new or improved technologies, processes, products and services to market, helping the UK’s physical and social systems adapt to a changing climate.
Participants use lean startup methodology—hypothesising, testing and evaluating—to understand potential customers and applications for their research. Support includes workshops, guest speakers, an introduction to Strategyzer’s Business Model Canvas, and trainer, mentor and peer feedback. Relevant areas include food security, water supply, transport, urban design, large infrastructure resilience, community preparedness and response, and physical risks for the finance sector.
