Description
This opportunity supports researchers to quickly undertake urgent data collection and initial analysis in response to unexpected, transient environmental events such as earthquakes, floods, droughts, or ephemeral ecosystem occurrences. The funding is designed to capture critical data at the onset of such events, before environmental conditions change, and to lay the groundwork for future research. Projects must clearly demonstrate the scientific urgency, why other funding routes are unsuitable, and align with the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) remit. The scheme encourages innovative use of critical technologies and responsible research practices, including open data management and ethical considerations.
