Due Dates: April 1, 2027 (Annual deadline)

Funding Amounts: Up to NZ$20,000 for a maximum of one year; one grant annually

Summary: Supports travel and accommodation for researchers undertaking neurological research in New Zealand using human brain tissue at the Human Brain Bank.

Key Information: Applicants must be primarily based outside Auckland and have independently funded research approved by the Human Brain Bank Directors.

    Description

The Neurological Foundation Human Brain Bank Travel Grant enables researchers undertaking neurological research in New Zealand to visit the Neurological Foundation Human Brain Bank and work with human brain tissue. It supports the practical costs of reaching and staying near the bank, rather than the research itself. Visits may take place in one trip or across multiple trips within one year.

The grant forms part of the Foundation’s broader support for research into diseases and disorders of the nervous system, including their causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment, and patient care and rehabilitation. It is intended for researchers based outside Auckland who have already secured the working expenses needed for their research.
