The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) presents this award to educators who have developed robust neuroscience educational programs for pre-clerkship medical students. It recognizes the time and effort course directors devote to valuable educational experiences, often providing students’ first exposure to neurology.
The award emphasizes excellence in course development and teaching. Special consideration goes to educators who use novel technologies and educational strategies, employ varied teaching methods, and engage medical students in innovative ways. The selection committee also considers evidence of course success or a program’s contribution to increasing student interest in postgraduate neurology training.
