Description
Mayo Clinic’s Neurotology Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, combines comprehensive clinical and surgical training with teaching and basic science and clinical research. The two-year program trains surgeons, educators, and researchers in the diagnostic, medical, surgical, and rehabilitative management of disorders affecting the auditory and vestibular systems, facial nerve, and cranial base.
Training takes place in a high-volume quaternary health care facility, with particular emphasis on complex neurotologic and lateral skull base care. Clinical experience includes tumor microsurgery and stereotactic radiosurgery, multidisciplinary care for neurofibromatosis type 2, cochlear and auditory brainstem implantation, and complex facial nerve disorders. Fellows work closely with neurotology and neurosurgery faculty through a mentorship model that pairs each fellow with an individual faculty member for approximately three months.
