New Horizons is the nationwide research campaign of the Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute (CFRI), supporting promising new cystic fibrosis (CF) research at academic and hospital institutions. The program seeks research of the highest scientific quality, with particular emphasis on projects relevant to finding improved treatments or a cure for CF.
The awards provide seed funding for new lines of basic and clinical CF research with prospects of attracting future support from other sources, such as the National Institutes of Health. Projects should be original, probing, and/or pioneer a new approach to therapy or a cure. CFRI’s Research Advisory Committee reviews the two-year projects, with continued support tied to satisfactory scientific progress, financial reporting, and available funds relevant to the project’s goals.
