Description
The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) administers this competitive program to support the acquisition, installation, and implementation of waste material equipment and technologies at New Mexico meat processing facilities. It addresses waste-handling and disposal constraints that limit operations, while helping processors modernize facilities and improve environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and operational safety.
Supported work includes wastewater treatment, blood capture, composting, cold storage for waste stabilization, and equipment that converts livestock byproducts into value-added products. Technology projects may improve monitoring, automation, traceability, recordkeeping, or coordination across processing, storage, and waste systems.
