Description
New Work is a Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) Community Engagement Grant for individual Bronx-based artists working in any discipline. Supported by the New York State Council on the Arts Statewide Community Regrants Program, it funds the creation of new work in a community setting. Projects connect artistic production with public engagement through an open exhibition or performance, community involvement in development and creation, or both.
The program supports performing, literary, media, and visual arts and encourages projects reflecting Bronx residents’ lived experiences. “Community” may mean a geographic area, a cultural, social, racial, or socioeconomic demographic, or an artistic community. New Work is highly competitive; its 2026 supported projects include nature photography, experimental film, mixed-media digital art, a play, and community writing and ritual.
