The Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) New Writers Award honors writers who have published their first full-length book in fiction, poetry, or creative non-fiction. Established in 1970, the award seeks to enrich literary creativity and foster direct engagement between emerging writers and the academic communities of GLCA’s member colleges. Winners are selected by faculty judges from the association’s member institutions and are invited to visit several campuses to give readings, participate in discussions, sign books, and engage with creative writing classes.
