This program provides major grant funding to New York State medical schools to recruit or retain exceptional translational life science researchers. The goal is to accelerate innovation in clinical research, strengthen the research ecosystem, and foster commercialization of life science technologies. Funding supports the establishment or upgrade of laboratories, purchase of capital equipment and specialized supplies, and hiring of professional research staff (excluding the recruited Principal Investigator). The program is designed to enhance the capabilities of NY medical institutions, drive economic development, and address unmet clinical needs through translational research.
