Key Information: Applicants must belong to a participating consortium institution and conduct research in continuous residence at the Newberry.
The Newberry Center for Renaissance Studies Consortium Fellowships support projects in medieval, Renaissance, or early modern studies that require investigation of specific items in the Newberry Library’s collection. Administered through the library’s Short-Term Fellowship program, they provide intensive research time in Chicago and opportunities to participate in the Newberry’s scholarly community.
The Center supports two awards: one for a postdoctoral scholar and one for a PhD candidate from participating consortium institutions. Research with Newberry materials should be vital to the proposed project. The broader Short-Term Fellowship program supports collection-based research across fields, with applicants matched to applicable donor- or partner-supported funds. Consortium applicants are automatically considered for these awards without an additional application response.
