Summary: Supports advanced quantum key distribution systems and hybrid cryptographic frameworks for practical quantum-secure communication networks.
Key Information: Participation is restricted to legal entities in EU Member States or EuroHPC JU Participating States, with ownership-control safeguards.
EuroHPC Joint Undertaking funds this Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action to advance next-generation quantum key distribution (QKD) and strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy in quantum-secure communications. It supports applied R&D, experimental validation, integration with classical and optical networks, and hybrid frameworks combining QKD with post-quantum cryptography (PQC). The action targets cost-effective systems, improved performance and coverage, and scalable, interoperable components supporting certification.
Projects should demonstrate practical benefits in demanding applications such as critical infrastructure monitoring, long-term secure cloud storage, industrial control, and multi-site enterprise communications. Work should build on QSNP Framework Partnership Agreement results and align with SRIA 2030, the Quantum Europe Strategy and EuroQCI. The emphasis is on advancing technology readiness and practical deployment pathways, not duplicating EuroQCI infrastructure deployment.
