Description
The Healthy Communities Action Teams (HCAT) Grants, administered by the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY), provide three-year funding to support local initiatives across Virginia focused on the prevention and reduction of childhood obesity. The program empowers community-based teams to collaboratively implement policy, systems, and environmental changes that foster healthier lifestyles among children. Projects must address at least one of eight targeted healthy behaviors, such as increased breastfeeding, healthier eating, physical activity, better sleep, and reduced consumption of ultra-processed foods or sugary beverages. The grant is designed to strengthen community infrastructure and stimulate sustainable, collaborative efforts for youth health improvement.
