Cyanotoxin Monitoring Equipment and Training Grants support public water systems with equipment and quality assurance planning to monitor cyanobacteria blooms and cyanotoxins in source and finished water.
Funder: New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services
Due Dates: Rolling (Applications)
Funding Amounts: Supports monitoring equipment purchases and quality assurance planning
Summary: Supports public water systems using surface water sources in developing programs to monitor cyanobacteria blooms and cyanotoxins.
Key Information: Applicants must be public water systems that use surface water sources.
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) administers these grants to help public water systems that use surface water sources develop cyanotoxin monitoring programs. Available since 2017, the program supports monitoring of both source and finished water for indicators of cyanobacteria blooms and cyanotoxins, as part of the department’s work on source water quality and protection.
Supported work includes equipment purchases and the quality assurance planning needed for environmental data collection and analysis. Past purchases have included handheld fluorometers for monitoring cyanobacterial pigments, microscope cameras for cell enumeration and imaging, and equipment for collecting surface water samples. Grant funds can also support development of a Quality Assurance Project Plan or a Site Specific Project Plan.
