    Description

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) supports investigator-initiated clinical trials through a phased UG3/UH3 cooperative agreement. Each award supports one trial testing a drug, biologic, device, or procedure to prevent, diagnose, or treat dental, oral, or craniofacial diseases or conditions. Trials may involve any phase of testing for an FDA-regulated product.

The one-year UG3 phase supports scientific and operational planning, including feasibility assessments and preparation of trial documents. The UH3 phase supports trial implementation for up to five years. NIDCR seeks well-designed, hypothesis-driven trials with clinically meaningful outcomes important to patients and health care providers. Examples include tissue regeneration, diagnostic technologies, surgical interventions, oral disease therapies, and orofacial pain management. Behavior-change intervention studies are not supported.
