Description
This opportunity, offered by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), is designed to facilitate the transition of highly qualified dentist scientists from NIH Intramural postdoctoral research positions to extramural, tenure-track (or equivalent) faculty positions at eligible U.S. institutions. The award provides two phases of support: an initial mentored postdoctoral phase within the NIH Intramural Research Program (up to 2 years), followed by an independent research phase at an extramural institution (up to 3 years).
The program aims to help dentist scientists establish independent research careers in dental, oral, and craniofacial health and disease. The award does not allow applicants to lead independent clinical trials, but does permit research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor.
