Description
This opportunity provides support for high-quality scientific conferences and meetings that are relevant to public health and the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its participating Institutes and Centers. Conferences may be in-person or virtual and can include symposia, seminars, workshops, or other organized meetings designed to exchange technical information, discuss research, or clarify a defined scientific area. The program aims to foster communication and collaboration within the research community and to advance scientific knowledge in areas of interest to NIH.
Clinical trials are not permitted under this funding opportunity.

- Advance permission to submit is required at least 6 weeks before the chosen due date.
Funding Amount
- Budget: No specific budget limit; budgets must be well-justified and reflect the actual needs of the proposed conference.
- Project Period: Most NIH Institutes and Centers will support up to 5 years for a series of annual or biannual conferences. Single, non-recurring conferences must be applied for individually.
- Allowable Costs: Direct costs such as personnel (proportional to effort), equipment rental, travel, per diem, supplies, conference services, publication costs, and select registration or speaker fees.
- Non-Allowable Costs: Meals/food and beverages, equipment purchase, entertainment, honoraria, patient care, local participant expenses, and indirect costs.

- Independent school districts
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- Native American tribal governments and organizations
- Faith-based and community-based organizations
- Regional organizations
- U.S. territories and possessions
- Eligible federal agencies

Ineligible:
- Non-U.S. (foreign) organizations and non-U.S. components of U.S. organizations cannot apply as the applicant organization, but foreign components may be included as collaborators.

Application Process
- Advance Permission: Applicants must obtain a permission-to-submit letter from a participating NIH Institute or Center at least 6 weeks before the application deadline. Applications without this letter will not be reviewed.
- Submission: Applications must be submitted electronically via NIH ASSIST, an institutional system-to-system solution, or Grants.gov Workspace.
- Required Registrations: Applicant organizations must be registered with SAM, eRA Commons, and Grants.gov. PDs/PIs must have an eRA Commons account.

- Safety Plan: If recommended for funding, applicants must provide a safety plan to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at the conference.
