This opportunity provides support for early stage investigators (ESIs) to pursue innovative research projects that represent a significant change in research direction and for which no preliminary data exist. The program is designed to stimulate new ideas and approaches in biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research aligned with the missions of participating NIH Institutes and Centers. Applications must not include preliminary data and must contain a dedicated attachment describing how the project constitutes a change in research direction for the investigator(s).
