Description
The NIH Parent F30 fellowship supports promising predoctoral students enrolled in combined health-professional and research doctoral programs at institutions with NIH-funded dual-degree training programs, including Medical Scientist Training Programs and Dental Scientist Training Programs. Eligible degree combinations include MD/PhD, DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD, and PharmD/PhD. The goal is to develop productive, independent physician/clinician-scientists through mentored research and integrated clinical training.
Candidates propose a research training project and an integrated training plan relevant to a participating NIH Institute or Center. Training should strengthen rigorous research design, experimental methods, quantitative approaches, and data analysis while preparing candidates for their next career stage. Candidates may gain experience in a sponsor- or co-sponsor-led clinical trial, but may not lead an independent trial, clinical trial feasibility study, or ancillary clinical trial.
