The NIH Support for Research Excellence (SuRE) Award is designed to build research capacity and foster research excellence at higher education institutions with limited NIH Research Project Grant (RPG) funding. The program funds investigator-initiated biomedical research in basic, social, clinical, behavioral, or translational science that aligns with NIH mission areas. SuRE aims to enable full-time faculty, who are not currently funded by major NIH RPGs, to conduct meritorious research while providing high-quality research experiences for undergraduate and/or graduate students. The program also seeks to strengthen the scientific research culture and infrastructure at eligible institutions.
