Description
This competitive program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), provides financial assistance to Minnesota producers who adopt innovative agricultural practices aimed at reducing nitrate-nitrogen leaching into groundwater. Eligible practices include cover cropping, delayed cover crop termination, demonstration sites, manure management, nitrate reduction, perennial crops, pre-plant nitrogen testing, precision agriculture, relay cropping, and small grain integration. The program is designed to promote research-based, best management practices and encourages collaboration with local conservation partners and educational outreach to support widespread adoption of effective nitrogen management strategies.
