K12 DEVELOP is an institutional Mentored Career Development Award run by the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS), with NIH support through the Clinical and Translational Science Award program. It supports junior faculty committed to academic careers in clinical and translational science through intensive research, sustained mentoring, protected time, and career development. The current program supports projects at Rutgers, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and RWJBarnabas Health.
Scholars combine mentored projects with didactic and experiential learning across the T0–T4 translational science continuum. Individualized development plans, interdisciplinary skills training, online coursework, and community engagement help scholars formulate research questions, design studies, and use biomedical informatics. Responsible Conduct of Research training, grant-writing workshops, and access to NJ ACTS resources prepare scholars to pursue individual career development awards and independent research funding.
