Description
The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) runs the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to help municipalities and developers create affordable housing across the state. The FY2027 competition funds acquisition, new construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of rental or homeownership developments with no more than 25 units. Projects may provide family, senior or supportive housing.
The program aims to meet local housing needs while strengthening neighborhoods and building on other public and private investments. Reviewers consider financial feasibility, readiness, construction and operating costs, the development team’s experience, evidence of housing need, and access to community resources. The FY2027 competition also awards priority points for larger family-sized units, sites in designated Difficult to Develop Areas, and nonprofit developers.
