Key Information: Applicants must be nonprofits or local governments with lead hazard control experience and EPA RRP firm certification.
The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) funds organizations to deliver lead remediation and abatement services across all 21 New Jersey counties. The program serves income-eligible households in residential properties containing one to ten units built before 1978. Applicants must demonstrate local need through evidence of lead-based paint hazards, elevated blood lead levels among children, and the age and condition of housing.
Supported activities include outreach and intake, lead inspections and risk assessments, hazard remediation and abatement, dust wipe clearances, and temporary household relocation when necessary. Outreach prioritizes neighborhoods disproportionately affected by lead exposure and engagement through schools, daycares, food pantries, landlords, local health departments, and other community venues. Program delivery includes staff training, construction oversight, documentation, and quality assurance.
