The New Jersey Department of Children & Families (DCF), through its Children’s System of Care (CSOC), is qualifying providers to offer one-to-one support at their summer day camps and Alternative Recreational Sessions (ARS). These services help youth with developmental disabilities participate when behavioral, adaptive, social, or functional needs would otherwise prevent attendance. Qualified providers are listed through PerformCare and become eligible for DCF contributions toward authorized services.
Support includes assistance with daily living, communication, mobility, personal care, and behavioral needs—not skilled nursing. The program aims to build confidence, strengthen peer relationships and community participation, increase safety awareness, and give families a temporary break from caregiving. Services follow a family-centered, strength-based, culturally competent, community-based approach. Providers able to serve non-verbal and/or bilingual youth are encouraged.
