The New Jersey Department of Children & Families (DCF), through its Children’s System of Care (CSOC), is qualifying providers of traditional day camps, overnight camps, and Alternative Recreational Sessions for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Qualified providers appear on PerformCare’s provider list and may receive DCF contributions toward authorized campers’ tuition. This is a provider qualification opportunity, rather than start-up funding.
The programs help youth build confidence, interact with peers, and participate in their communities while giving families a temporary break from caregiving. Alternative Recreational Sessions offer shorter, structured recreational experiences with enhanced participant supports. CSOC emphasizes family-centered, strength-based, culturally competent, and community-based services, with families involved in planning experiences responsive to their youth’s needs.
