Description
The New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Division of Agricultural and Natural Resources offers cost-share grants to eligible farmers to construct fencing that protects agricultural products from deer, bear, or other wildlife. The program is for unpreserved commercial farmland in New Jersey; preserved farms are not eligible. Program materials provide installation specifications for high-tensile woven-wire deer fencing and permanent electric bear fencing.
The Division reviews complete applications for the site-specific feasibility of the proposed fencing. Approved projects must completely enclose the area to be fenced and follow the applicable specifications. The program is separate from the State Agriculture Development Committee’s wildlife fencing program for preserved farmland.
