Description
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission’s No Child Left Inside program funds outdoor experiences for youth who face barriers to access. Established by the Legislature in 2007 and administered by the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO), it aims to strengthen young people’s connection to nature, academic performance, self-esteem, health, and community involvement while empowering local communities to engage youth outdoors.
Grants support environmental and natural-resource education, leadership development, outdoor adventure, stewardship, and day or overnight camps. Activities can include hiking, kayaking, camping, outdoor skills, and culturally informed experiences. The program focuses on youth with the greatest need and on quality opportunities to learn, play, and experience the outdoors.
