Description
The NOAA Fisheries–Sea Grant Joint Fellowship Program supports graduate thesis research in population and ecosystem dynamics and marine resource economics. Sea Grant and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) run the program to address NMFS workforce needs, advance Sea Grant’s educational mission, and strengthen collaboration between university scientists and NMFS.
Fellows pursue thesis problems of public interest and relevance to NMFS at participating NMFS Science Centers or Laboratories, guided by NMFS mentors. The program aims to build expertise in these fields, encourage related careers, and give graduate students research experience within a federal marine resource agency. The South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium is the application point for applicants applying through South Carolina.
