The Noel D. Matkin Award is a small-grant program administered by the Educational Audiology Association (EAA) to support audiology services in educational settings. Named for Dr. Noel Matkin, a leader and mentor in pediatric audiology, it funds both research and non-research projects by practitioner and student members.
The program emphasizes clearly defined objectives, sound project design, and work with potential to address clinical needs in educational audiology. Supported projects have included hearing education modules, voice emotion perception in children with and without hearing loss, collaboration between educational audiologists and teachers of deaf or hard-of-hearing students, telepractice service models, and phonological awareness interventions. Proposals are also assessed for the adequacy of their resources, personnel, management plans, and budgets.
