Description
The Nonhighway and Off-road Vehicle Activities (NOVA) Education and Enforcement category funds information, outreach, and law enforcement for recreation related to trails and back roads. It aims to encourage environmentally responsible behavior, protect recreation resources and facilities, and reduce conflicts among visitors through positive management techniques. The Recreation and Conservation Funding Board administers NOVA with support from the Washington Recreation and Conservation Office.
Projects may contact recreationists in the field, distribute educational materials, or provide law enforcement contact that encourages responsible use. Supported recreation includes nonhighway road, nonmotorized, and off-road vehicle activities. Except for off-road vehicle facilities, activities supported by NOVA must be accessed via a nonhighway road.
