Description
This program, administered by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), provides financial support for projects aimed at controlling nonpoint source (NPS) pollution—polluted runoff that impairs water quality in the state’s surface and ground waters. Funded by Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, the grant supports a wide range of activities, including technical assistance, environmental education, technology transfer, demonstration and monitoring projects, and wetland restoration. Projects must align with Mississippi’s rotating Basin Management Approach, targeting priority watersheds and addressing identified pollutants through best management practices (BMPs), education, and collaborative watershed planning.
