Description
The Vermont Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Capacity Building program supports high-level, long-term organizational planning that can be difficult to resource within limited or restricted budgets. It helps nonprofits and municipalities serve their communities effectively, make confident decisions, and build lasting stability. Grants supplement other funding for consultant-led work rather than supporting routine operations.
Supported activities include strategic planning to clarify mission, goals, and performance measures; financial sustainability and revenue diversification planning; merger planning; and diversity, equity, and inclusion policy development and implementation. The program also supports board and leadership learning that benefits the whole organization over time. Planning may address changes in federal funding or policies through new staffing models, reevaluation of programs, or revised financial and revenue plans.
