Description
The North Carolina Heritage Awards are presented every other year by the North Carolina Department of Natural & Cultural Resources through its Arts Council to honor the state’s most distinguished folk artists. Since 1989, the program has recognized individuals whose artistry and cultural impact have shaped North Carolina’s rich folk traditions. Many recipients have gone on to achieve national and international recognition, making this one of the state’s most prestigious honors in the folk arts community.
