North Dakota EPSCoR’s State Office provides research seed awards to help faculty generate preliminary data for future STEM proposals to federal agencies. The program supports the office’s mission to increase STEM faculty capacity and competitiveness across North Dakota’s higher education institutions and strengthen the pipeline of future workers, educators, and researchers. Proposed research must fit within the current North Dakota Science & Technology Plan.
Priority goes to collaborative, interdisciplinary, multi-institutional research, especially collaborations involving primarily undergraduate institutions (PUIs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). Projects must identify the research and data to be collected and the specific federal agency funding opportunity they intend to pursue. Review considers scientific merit, broader impacts, alignment with the state plan, and plans to sustain the effort and leverage project outcomes.
