The successful applicant becomes a Postdoctoral Research Associate, pursuing innovative scholarship toward publication or the development of new subject areas. Projects may include completing book manuscripts or articles, preparing text editions, or establishing new research trajectories using the Milton V. Anastos Collection, the Medieval Institute, and the Hesburgh Library.
All fields and sub-disciplines of Byzantine Studies are welcome, including history and its auxiliary disciplines, archaeology, art history, literature, theology, liturgical studies, and Byzantium’s interactions with neighboring cultures. The fellowship carries no teaching responsibilities and offers opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary faculty activities concerning Byzantium, Eastern Christianity, and the history of the Levant.
