Funding Amounts: Up to DKK 17 million over seven years per grant; up to DKK 68 million available
Summary: Supports starting independent research leaders pursuing fundamental bioscience and basic biomedicine relevant to human health and disease.
Key Information: Applicants must establish their primary research group in Denmark and demonstrate career mobility and independence.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Hallas-Møller Emerging Investigator programme helps promising starting group leaders gain scientific independence through novel, ambitious fundamental research. It supports projects advancing understanding of the human organism or basic mechanisms underlying health and disease, with high potential for scientific impact.
Research fields include molecular and cell biology, bioinformatics, modelling of biological systems, enzymology, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, experimental physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, biology and biostatistics. Research typically uses animal, cellular or subcellular model systems, or in silico approaches. The programme targets senior postdoctoral researchers ready to establish a group and junior leaders in the earliest stages of building one. Applicants should choose the most appropriate Foundation call, including separate calls for endocrinology and metabolism, clinical and translational medicine, biotechnology, plant science, and natural and technical sciences.
