The SARAO Freestanding BSc and BEng Undergraduate Scholarships are funded by the National Research Foundation and administered by the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO). They support students currently pursuing, or planning to pursue, specified engineering and science degrees at South African universities, with radio astronomy as the central career focus.
Supported studies span electronic, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic and computer engineering, alongside specified science combinations involving physics, mathematics, electronics, astronomy, astrophysics and computer science. Applicants must explain how their chosen degree relates to a career in radio astronomy. Scholarships support different stages of undergraduate study, with the duration determined by the degree and the student's year of study.
