    Description

The National Research Foundation (NRF) and South Africa–Sweden University Forum (SASUF) jointly support new multilateral research partnerships through SASUF+ Beyond Borders. The seed grants help researchers develop joint ideas, build institutional networks and prepare competitive proposals for future collaborative funding. Projects must address interdisciplinary research within Sustainable Health; Green Transition; Migration and Urbanisation; or Democracy, Social Justice and Indigenous Knowledge Systems.

Support focuses on research capacity development through postgraduate exchanges, research mobility, joint workshops, seminars, conferences, lectures and dissemination involving stakeholders beyond the consortium. The programme prioritises equitable partnerships, early- and mid-career researcher participation and leadership, doctoral mentorship and knowledge exchange. Its goal is lasting cooperation addressing shared societal challenges relevant to Africa and Sweden, considering both global and local conditions.
