The Netherlands Respiratory Society (NRS) presents this award every two years to recognize outstanding achievements by established mid-career researchers in respiratory science. The 2027 award provides €5,000 for research activities and requires a plan for societal outreach. It connects recognition of scientific achievement with support for further work in respiratory health and disease, while making dissemination to wider audiences an explicit part of the award.
Applicants must explain how their research makes, or will make, a difference to respiratory health or disease. The application also highlights relevant research outputs and outreach to general media or the lay public. Previous recipients have worked on animal-free lung research and implementation of palliative care support for people with COPD.
