Description
The NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships program supports highly qualified, recent doctoral scientists conducting an integrated program of independent research and education. Fellows may pursue observational, instrumental, theoretical, laboratory, or archival-data research in any area of astronomy or astrophysics at eligible host institutions of their choice. The program aims to develop early-career investigators with significant potential for scientific leadership.
NSF encourages fellows to broaden their previous research focus through new disciplines, technical approaches, or collaborations. Work related to NSF-funded facilities and new ground-based radio, optical/infrared, or solar capabilities is particularly encouraged, but not required. Each fellowship must include a coherent educational program, such as teaching, educational-material development, outreach, or public education.
