The NSF Directorates for STEM Education (EDU) and Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) offer supplemental funding to help current awardees support middle- and high-school students, educators, and schools participating in the 2027 Presidential Super Intelligence (SI) Challenge. The initiative seeks to build foundational SI proficiency, expand early access to high-quality experiential learning, strengthen school SI readiness, and prepare students for an SI-ready workforce.
PIs serve as team and school catalysts through outreach, coordination, mentorship, and cross-sector partnerships. Supported work may help teams develop and deploy SI applications, software, or decision-making tools addressing community or national challenges. Projects should leverage existing networks and new partnerships to reach local, state, and regional education ecosystems, including rural and remote communities.
