    Description

The National Speleological Society (NSS) established this small-grants program to invest in the future of cave and karst science through research initiated or overseen by educators. It supports outstanding proposals involving secondary students and post-secondary undergraduates, recognizing that young cavers’ curiosity can develop into the scholarly interests of future leaders in the field. The Research Advisory Department administers the program with input from the Education Division.

Projects may study cave and karst-related phenomena from any scholarly perspective. Their scope is broadly similar to the Society’s Ralph W. Stone Award and Small Grant Program, but student participation is central to this opportunity: students take leading roles throughout the work, while educators provide coordination and guidance.
