Description
The NSTP Travel Grant (Year 1), administered by the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF) in partnership with the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS), is designed to support neurosurgery residents as they begin their formal research training. This grant provides a $5,000 travel stipend to facilitate attendance at two key neurosurgeon-scientist mentorship events: the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) neurosurgeon-scientist symposium (fall) and the NINDS R25 neurosurgeon-scientist symposium (spring). In addition to financial support, awardees are paired with a central NSTP mentor, complementing their local mentorship, and are integrated into a national network of neurosurgeon-scientist mentors. The grant is part of a two-year mentored research structure designed to enhance research skills, national networking, and preparation for future competitive research funding (such as NIH K awards).
