Nursing Facility Training Grants support Rhode Island nursing facilities’ employee training in behavioral health, dementia, and cognitive impairment care to improve care for patients and residents.

Description
The Governor’s Workforce Board at the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training administers this state-funded program for licensed nursing facilities. It reimburses eligible costs of enhanced healthcare training for employees, with a focus on behavioral health care, dementia care, and other training that improves care for patients and residents with cognitive impairments.
Training should build skills beyond pre-employment training or basic onboarding. Facilities may apply for more than one distinct training activity, subject to the annual funding cap. Employers pay costs up front and request reimbursement after the contract performance period.
